Neighbourhood Forums - Community Members Information Pack
Published: Thursday 23rd July 2009
Would you like to represent your community on one of the four Neighbourhood Forums across the valley?
The Rossendale Partnership is asking local people to consider whether they would be interested in representing their community on one of the Neighbourhood Forums.
Rossendale Borough Council and Rossendale's Local Strategic Partnership has undertaken a review of its Neighbourhood Forum arrangements and made some changes with a view to making them more effective and responsive to the needs of local communities. We are looking to appoint a number of community members for each of the four Neighbourhood Forums across Rossendale. Community members will be equal partners on the Forums together with local elected members and service providers such as the Council, Police Health etc.
The changes will enable individuals and communities to play a more active part in having a say in the decisions that affect how services are developed and delivered in their communities.
The aim of the Forums is to improve the quality of life for the citizens of Rossendale by ensuring that the services delivered are appropriate to the needs of local people, businesses and visitors. The key purpose of the Forums will be to promote engagement and partnership working at a local community, street and neighbourhood level. Community members will be a vital component of the Forums, representing the views and concerns of their local community and sharing their expertise and knowledge of the area.
A Community Members Information pack containing more information about becoming a Community Member has been sent out to community groups across Rossendale. The deadline for nominations for community membership is 24 August.
