Rossendale Borough Council

Rossendale Air Quality Management Area Action Plan Consultation

From: 19/08/2016. To: 16/09/2016.

Following a period of regular monitoring of air quality, In 2013 Rossendale Council, declared two Air Quality Management Areas. The air quality monitoring had highlighted that the limits for a certain vehicular pollutant was being exceeded albeit only marginally.

The details of that monitoring can be found on the web site at Air Quality Monitoring Reports .

As a consequence of those exceedances we are required to produce and air quality management action plan. The plan has been drawn up with support from a number of outside agencies whose activities can support the implementation of the plan.

The plan explores a number of potential options to reduce pollution. Some of those options have been discounted for reason outlined in the report. Others have been critically looked at to determine the most viable and sustainable options which form the recommendations of the plan.

Before the plan is formally adopted by the council we wish to seek your views on the plan. The consultation will be open for 28 days from the 19 August 2016. At which point any comments or observations will be reviewed and included in the report to cabinet seeking adoption of the plan.
