Elections 2015

Elections for a Member of Parliament and Borough Councillors are being held in Rossendale on Thusday 7 May 2015. There is one seat up for election in the Rossendale & Darwen Parliamentary constituency and borough councillor seat in each of the following wards: -

  • Cribden (1 borough seat)
  • Facit & Shawforth (1 borough seat)
  • Greenfield (1 borough seat)
  • Greensclough (1 borough seat)
  • Hareholme (1 borough seat)
  • Healey & Whitworth (1 borough seat)
  • Helmshore (1 borough seat)
  • Irwell (2 borough seats)
  • Longholme (1 borough seat)
  • Stacksteads (1 borough seat)
  • Whitewell (2 borough seats)
  • Worsley (1 borough seat)

Greenfield and Worsley wards have one borough seat each and are part of the Hyndburn Parliamentary Constutiency.  All other Rossendale wards are included in the Rossendale and Darwen Parliamentary Constituency along with the following Darwen wards:

  • Earcroft
  • East Rural
  • Fenhurst
  • Marsh House
  • North Turton with Tockholes
  • Sudell
  • Sunnyhurst
  • Whitehall

How To Vote

You must be on the Register of Electors to be able to vote. The last date to register for these elections was 20 April but you can still register for future elections online at or by contacting the Elections Office. 

Poll cards have been delivered across Rossendale and your card will tell you where your polling station is and the hours the stations are open (7.00am to 10.00pm). If you have not received a poll card or the information contained in the poll card is wrong please contact the elections office on 01706 252445 or by e-mailing

Absent Voting

The last day to apply for a postal vote was 21 April.  You can still apply for a proxy to vote in the polling station for you up to 5pm on 28 April by contacting the elections office or downloading a form here.
