The council's annual equality report

Equality report

We collect and publish a range of equality related information as required by the Equality Duty. Equality related information is also contained within our Integrated Quarterly Performance Report (see council performance) and within individual Equality Impact Assessments (EIAs).

We gather information covering all the protected characteristics as and where relevant, this includes: age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex, and sexual orientation.

In publishing our equality information we have sought to ensure that it is accessible and follows the Public Sector Transparency Board's Public Data Principles which can be viewed online.

We have also sought to ensure that the equality information we publish complies with the Data Protection Act 1998. The last Equality Report was published in October 2013 and can be found here. The next Equality Report is due during 2012 and will be produced in line with the latest Equality and Human Rights Commission guidance and the Equality Duty in relation to the publication of equality information.

Our equality information helps us identify and understand potential key equality issues across our functions including employment and service delivery areas. As we go forward, where appropriate we will use the findings to inform our equality objectives.

Information is also available from existing data sources, available to all, which provides a wealth of local information and intelligence for example:

Lancashire Profile: district and Lancashire wide information across a range of different themes.

Office of National Statistics: neighbourhood statistics and Census data.
