About electoral registration

The annual canvass

View pages in this section

During the canvass period each Autumn, every household in Rossendale will receive an electoral registration form.

The form should be completed with the names of all the eligible people resident at the address.

If the property is not occupied by people who are eligible to vote, or even if the property is empty, the form should still be returned to us with the relevant information.

If the form is not returned a fine of £1000 may have to be paid.

The same applies if the householder gives false information or deliberately leaves something out.

If you miss the canvass form, or move house during the year, you can still apply to register by calling the elections office on the number below (they will send you out a form), or you can download a form from the Electoral Commission's website here.
