Notice of Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places
The Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places (Parliamentary Elections) Regulations 2006
The introduction of the Electoral Registration and Administration Act 2013 changed the timing of compulsory reviews of UK Parliamentary polling districts and polling places. The next compulsory review must now be started and completed between 1 October 2018 and 31 January 2019 (inclusive). Subsequent compulsory reviews must be started and completed within the period of 16 months that starts on 1 October of every fifth year afterwards.
Rossendale Councillors instigated an interim review, in addition to the compulsory reviews, during 2015.
A consultation period for the interim review in Rossendale took place from 5 August 2015 to 31 August 2015.
Local political parties, Members of Parliament, Borough and Parish Councillors were consulted. Views were also invited from electors within the Borough of Rossendale, as well as such persons as may have particular expertise in relation to access to premises or facilities for persons who have different forms of disability.
Although the review was of polling districts and polling places, it was accepted that polling stations were inexorably linked to the review and comments were invited regarding those stations currently used and/or any suggested alternatives.
