Information on Christmas Light Switch On events in Rawtenstall, Bacup and Haslingden.

 

Welcome Christmas into the Valley at the Rawtenstall Christmas Light Switch On which is happening on Saturday 28th November.

The event will see Coronation Street’s Ted Robbins turn on the lights with the Mayor of Rossendale, Cllr Marilyn Procter.

Events are being co-ordinated by Rossendale Council, Rawtenstall Revival and Kay Street Baptist Church with local groups and businesses coming together to support this wonderful event.

Rawtenstall Market will be hosting a DJ, Scout Christmas raffle, Water School Choir are performing, Arty Party will be doing crafts and there will be a Santa’s Grotto.

Kay Street Baptist Church will be running a lantern making workshop and they are hosting a fair trade café.

The event will also see a Christmas Story Treasure Trail which starts at Rawtenstall Market from 12 noon and ends at Kay Street Baptist Church.

There are also family activities being held at Longholme Methodist Church, St Mary’s Church and Rawtenstall Library.

The Christmas light switch on will take place on the Town Square from 4:45pm followed by carol singing, the Christmas Story lead by Churches Together Choir, St Mary’s School Choir, Water Band while everyone enjoys mulled wine and mince pies.

On the day Water Band will be playing the following carols;

God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

O Come All Ye Faithful

Silent Night

Hark! The Herald Angels Sing

Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer

Any local choirs wanting to come down and be part of this event and sing these carols with the band and other choirs are more than welcome to do so and event organisers would like to see as many choirs as possible.

Bacup will be bringing in the Christmas festivities on Saturday December 5th with a Retro Vintage Crafts Market at Bacup Market. A Christmas market on Irwell Terrance with entertainment, hot food, brass bands, the Britannia Coconutters, carol singing, Town Crier and a treasure hunt. The lights will be switched on at 4pm.

Haslingden will be welcoming Christmas into the Valley on Friday December 4th with their Christmas Market event. There will be children’s activities and entertainment at the library 4-5pm, the lights are switched on at 4:45pm with the Christmas Market on 5-8pm with music and hot food so people can make an evening out of the event.
