Response to Lancashire County Council Audit Report on Empty Homes Project

Published Monday, 23 November 2015

Statement from Rossendale Borough Council on the Audit Report from Lancashire County Council

“Rossendale Council welcomes the review work undertaken by Lancashire County Council and fully accepts its findings. We apologise for the clear failings that lead to this situation.

We asked for this report to be carried out and we have been fully transparent to the auditors, which the report notes, so that we can learn from the failings it identifies.

We apologise fully for the way the scheme was managed in the run-up to AAAW collapsing.

We have already put in place many of the recommendations. The report does highlight the hard work we’ve put in to rectify the situation and progress the project to a successful conclusion, which we are proud of.

We will continue to improve our processes and governance to make sure nothing like this happens again so we can get on with the job of delivering the best possible services to the people of Rossendale.”
