Rossendale Borough Council

Rubbish, waste and recycling

About Our Service

Rossendale Borough Council currently operates a refuse and recycling collection service working on a 4 day week (Tuesday - Friday). The Council operates an alternate weekly collection of refuse and dry recyclables. The majority of households have a wheeled bin for domestic refuse ("green bin") and a wheeled bin for dry recyclables ("blue bin" for tins, glass and plastic). Paper is collected in a separate container. Get more information about the different types of bins currently in use.

You can find out which day your bin is collected on by using our about your area tool.

Other Services

  • Bulky Collections - We offer a service for the removal of large furniture items such as beds, wardrobes and 3 pce suites etc. We do make a small charge for this service and items are collected on a given day. We also collect white goods such as cookers, washers and fridges.
  • Recycling Bring Sites - Rossendale has many recycling sites throughout the valley, where you can take paper, cardbaord, glass and cans, shoes and textiles for recycling
  • Assisted Collection - Rossendale Borough Council offers an assisted waste collection service for anyone who is unable to move their waste to the collection point and lives alone.
