Local Democracy Week In Rossendale
Encouraging younger people to have their say
Local Democracy Week 2008 - 13th - 19th October 2008
This year Local Democracy Week is taking place the week commencing 13 October and Rossendale Borough Council are organising events to take place throughout the Borough.
The Local Democracy Campaign is about getting young people more involved with, and aware of, their local council.
Rossendale Borough Council established a Youth Cabinet in October 2007, when representatives from each of the local Secondary School were invited to serve on the Youth Cabinet.
For the first meeting four schools took part and we are hoping to increase this number in the next year.
This site will be updated when a programme has been developed for Local Democracy Week.
The Council is keen to engage with young people and during 2008/09 we will be running a number of events with schools. If you have any ideas, please contact us to see if we can organise something with your school by emailing democracy@rossendalebc.gov.uk
