Rossendale Cemeteries
Rossendale Borough Council currently have 4 municipal cemeteries located at Bacup (opened 1862) Whitworth (1879) Rawtenstall (1877) and Haslingden (1902). All have plots available for Catholic , Church of England and non conformist (General) denominations. Both Rawtenstall and Haslingden also have a Muslim section.
Rossendale Council are also responsible for the maintenance of five closed churchyards - St James at Haslingden, St Thomas's at Helmshore, Stonefold at Rising Bridge, Lower Deardengate at Haslingden and St Marys at Goodshaw.
During the average year we undertake in excess of 220 interments. We do not have cremation facilities but this service can be accessed at our neighbouring authorities Hyndburn, Burnley and Rochdale.
Our prime aim is to provide a high quality and dignified burial service for bereaved families of all different religious and cultural backgrounds within the community.
