The Bacup Natural History Society was formed in 1878. The owrk of the society is carried out by a group of volunteers.
The Museum contains collections of domestic, industrial, religious and military artifacts. There is so much to be seen that only a visit can adequately describe it. The Library has a collection of around 2000 books and copies of Bacup newspapers from 1863.
Maps of Bacup are also available for research. A collection of some 4000 photographs of 'old' Bacup and it's mills, houses, farms, churches etc. are filed in the library.
Opening Times
The Museum is open to the public on Thursday evenings from 7.30pm and Easter Satruday 10am-3.30pm.
