A surgery is held at Haslingden Library on the second and fourth Saturday of every month from 11am -12 noon. No appointment needed.
I retired at Christmas 2005 after twenty five years as a headteacher.
I am a Past President of the National Association of Head Teachers (North West).
After such a length of time in public service, I want to give something back to the community and I am proud of being elected as councillor for Helmshore. The village is a large ward stretching from near Holcombe to near Belthorn and from Haslingden Leisure Centre to Knowsley Road Industrial Estate. There are over 4,600 electors. People see Helmshore as a very good place to live - outstanding scenery, quality housing, excellent schools, very good road communications, but above all there is still a strong sense of local community and a Lancashire friendliness second to none.
I am a member of the following Helmshore orgisations:
Royal British Legion, Sunnybank Community Association, Free Lane Allotments Society, St Thomas' History Group, Helmshore Action Group, St Thomas', Musbury
I am committed to maintaining and even enhancing Helmshore as a good place to live in but I cannot do this on my own.
I will have to work with others equally committed. If you want to make Helmshore an even better place to live in, please contact me - see details above.
