Salary        – £39,493 - £44,539

Hours        – 37 hours – office base, on-site, hybrid working

The role

We are currently looking to appoint a committed HR Manager to support the Council’s Head of People and Policy in the delivery of a professional, customer focused operational HR service.

Qualifications

Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) Level 7 Diploma or equivalent or evidence of experience to work towards.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Lead the delivery of a high quality, responsive HR and payroll service.
  • Management of  employee casework
  • Monitoring and management of sickness absence casework
  • Development of strong working relationships with managers and staff, providing support and professional advice.
  • Lead in the provision of learning and professional development of the Council’s workforce.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with Trade Union representatives.
  • Keep up-to-date with changes and developments in employment legislation and case law.

Person Specification

  • Experience of working in a senior HR role.
  • Experience of advising and coaching managers in employee relations.
  • Experience of leading, motivating and developing staff.
  • Experience of interpreting legislation, policy and guidance to develop local policies and procedures.
  • Experience of managing and processing payroll would be an advantage.
  • Experience of working in a local government environment would be an advantage.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent IT skills with good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to use own initiative, organise and manage own workload to meet priorities with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to research, assess and analysis information and data.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Senior Officers, Elected Members, Managers, staff, colleagues and partners.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development.
  • A commitment to developing and maintaining high levels of customer care.
  • The job will involve some occasional evening working
