New Household Support Fund Scheme

The Government announced in the Spring statement that they would be extending the Household Support Fund for 2022/23. Rossendale Borough Council has been allocated £350k to distribute to qualifying residents.

The Governments expectation is that the fund should primarily be used to support households in the most need, particularly those including children and pensioners who would otherwise struggle with energy bills, food and water.

The Council has partnered with the Post Office to distribute letters / vouchers to qualifying households. The funds will be distributed to pensioners and families who receive Council Tax Support.  There will be no application process.  The letters have been despatched today (29th July 2022).  If you are eligible you will receive a letter within the nexr few days, which you can then take to any post office to exchange for a cash payment.

In order to meet the Governments expectation concerning the distribution of funds to the priority households, the one off payments will be £90 to qualifying pensioner households and £55 to qualifying families.
