November was a month for our esteemed Mayor and Mayoress, dedicated to fostering community connections and supporting various initiatives.

From hosting charity events to participating in local celebrations, the Mayor and Mayoress have been at the forefront of activities that bring our community together.

Let's take a closer look at the highlights of their engagements throughout last month.

November 1: A Lesson in Civic Participation

On November 1, the Mayor welcomed the 38th Rossendale Beaver Scouts to the Council Chamber. The young scouts gained insights into the Mayor's role and the workings of Rossendale Borough Council. The visit included a fascinating exploration of civic regalia and a hands-on experience with a mock election, fostering civic education from an early age.

November 8: A Night of Fundraising and Community Spirit

The Mayor hosted a Charity Meal at the Rose N Bowl on November 8, a delightful evening filled with a two-course meal and engaging fundraising activities. This event aimed to bolster the Mayor's Charity Fund, highlighting the community's generosity and commitment to noble causes.

Remembrance Weekend: Honouring the Past

The Mayor and Mayoress actively participated in various Remembrance Events across Stacksteads, Edenfield, Helmshore, Haslingden, and Bacup. A poignant moment was the attendance at the service commemorating the 140th Anniversary of The Moorfield Pit Disaster, showcasing the Mayor's commitment to honouring the local history and the sacrifices of the past.

November 16: Recognising Civic Pride

A significant event on the Mayor's calendar was the Civic Pride Award Celebration Event. The Mayor and Mayoress joined in celebrating the achievements of Civic Pride Rossendale, which secured Gold in the Regional RHS Britain in Bloom entry and Silver Gilt in the National entry. The accolades included Gold in the Pocket Park category for Sparrow Park, marking a remarkable achievement at both regional and national levels.

November 18: Marking Milestones with M3 Project

The Mayor and Mayoress also attended the M3 Project's 20th Anniversary Celebration, recognising two decades of providing supported accommodation for single homeless and vulnerable young people in Rossendale. This heartfelt event expressed gratitude to the community members and stakeholders who have supported this vital initiative.

November 24: Lighting Up Rawtenstall

The Mayor and Mayoress played a role in Rawtenstall's festive celebrations, participating in the Rawtenstall Light Switch on Event at Town Square. The event, featuring food stalls, entertainment, and the illumination of the town, brought joy to the community as the holiday season commenced.

November 24: Racing for Charity

Adding a touch of excitement, the Mayor and Mayoress also supported the Charity Fundraising Race & Variety Night at Haslingden Cricket Club. The event, complete with horse racing, magic acts, singing, and a pie & peas supper, raised funds generously donated to Rossendale Hospice

November 26: Supporting Healthy Lifestyles

The Mayor actively participated in Rossendale's first Junior Park Run at Victoria Park Haslingden, emphasising the importance of community fitness and well-being. This 2km run/walk, organised by RLT and volunteers, provided a platform for residents of all ages to stay active.

November 27: Celebrating Lancashire Day

The Mayor was joined by guest, Councillor Michelle Smith, as they marked Lancashire Day with a reception, including the raising of the Lancashire Flag and the reading of the Lancashire Day Proclamation. This event, rooted in Lancashire's rich history, culture, and diversity, showcased the Mayor's dedication to promoting and celebrating the local heritage.

November 30: Launching Winter Food Collection

The month concluded with the Mayor attending the TESCO Winter Fair Food Collection Launch, supporting FareShare's initiative to combat food poverty. The Mayor's presence highlighted the importance of community collaboration, especially during the winter season.
