Women and Girls Sports Coaching and Volunteering Survey launches to help build a more active and inclusive sporting community
Rossendale Borough Council (RBC) are launching a Women and Girls Sports Coaching and Volunteering Survey in order to help create a more active, inclusive sporting community. The survey forms part of the Rossendale Physical Activity and Sport Strategy and supports the borough’s long-term vision of Rossendale becoming an Active Valley, where everyone has the opportunity to be physically active and involved in sport.
The survey aims to better understand the experiences, motivations and challenges faced by women and girls who are currently involved or interested in sports coaching and volunteering across Rossendale. This includes those already coaching or volunteering, as well as those who may be considering getting involved but face barriers such as lack of time, confidence, training opportunities or awareness of pathways.
Lead Member for Communities and Wellbeing, Cllr Liz McInnes said: “Women and girls play a vital role in sport, not only as participants but as coaches, volunteers and importantly as role models. Increasing female representation in these roles is a key objective of the Council’s Physical Activity and Sport Strategy, and helping to grow participation, strengthen local sports clubs and inspire the next generation to get active is vital.

“We’re encouraging as many women and girls to take part in the survey to help us devise and deliver programmes that they want – from grassroots clubs to community programmes.”
The findings from the survey will shape future development, training opportunities and support programmes across the borough. It will help ensure that coaching and volunteering pathways are accessible, welcoming and designed around the needs of women and girls living in Rossendale.
The survey closes on February 16 and is open to women and girls of all ages and backgrounds. https://bit.ly/womenandgirlssport
