Rossendale is set to host its first ever Sport, Physical Activity and Wellbeing Festival this spring and residents are being encouraged to get involved
Taking place on Saturday 2nd May at Marl Pits, the festival will showcase a wide range of activities, sessions and opportunities designed to get people moving, trying something new and connecting with others.
The event provides a unique opportunity for residents to explore a variety of local sports, activities, and wellbeing experiences, fostering both personal health and community wellbeing.
The free, family-friendly festival supports Rossendale Borough Council’s focus on healthier lifestyles, community connection, and inclusivity. With activities for all ages and abilities, the event is designed to be accessible and welcoming.
The full programme includes:
- Triathlon: 8:00–11:00
- SwimBikeRun: 9:00–11:00
- Rugby Union sessions: 10:00–14:00
- Disability sports and inclusive events: 10:00–14:00
- American Football: 11:00–13:00
- Guided Walk: 12:00–13:00
- Football 3v3 Tournament: 13:00–14:00
- Yoga sessions: 13:00–14:00
A highlight of the festival is the free 3v3 Football Tournament, open to teams of all skill levels. Participants can register in advance via email at 411531@EastLancsLearning.ac.uk.
The festival acts as a community lead-in to the Tour de Manc, connecting local participation with a major regional sporting event and reinforcing the Council’s commitment to active lifestyles and community wellbeing.
