Rossendale Works, an employment support project delivered by Rossendale Borough Council and Active Lancashire, welcomed around 140 residents to a dedicated Wellbeing and Employment Event designed to improve wellbeing, expand access to opportunities, and strengthen collaboration across community partners in the Valley.

Held on Thursday 23 April 2026, the event brought together 25 community, voluntary, and support organisations, showcasing the wide range of local services available to residents who are currently not in employment, education, or training. The event delivered immediate results, with 20 residents signing up to the Rossendale Works programme on the day, demonstrating the strong demand for accessible, local support and the impact of bringing services together in one place.

Project Lead for Rossendale Works, Paul Becouarn, highlighted the significance of the event:

“It’s been fantastic to see so many partners come together with a shared focus on supporting Rossendale residents. Many of these organisations don’t normally work in the same space, so bringing them together has created real energy and momentum. This level of collaboration has been made possible through strong communication and coordinated working led by the Rossendale Works team. It demonstrates what can be achieved when services align around a common purpose, and it reflects a joined-up approach to improving opportunities, wellbeing, and employment outcomes across the community.”

Feedback from participating organisations was overwhelmingly positive, with partners praising the opportunity to collaborate across sectors and build new connections.

Many organisations highlighted the value of working alongside partners they do not typically engage with, helping to create a more cohesive and accessible support network for residents. This strengthened partnership approach ensures residents benefit from a clearer pathway into employment, training, and wellbeing services.

The event aligns closely with wider priorities across the Valley, supporting ambitions to improve employment outcomes, strengthen the local economy, and enhance community wellbeing.

Rossendale Works will continue to play a central role in bringing partners together, supporting residents into employment, and fostering a more connected, resilient community across the Valley.
