Rossendale’s first Sport and Wellbeing Festival brought over 100 residents together at Marl Pits for a day of activities.

Over 100 people came together on Saturday 2nd May to take part in Rossendale’s first Sport, Physical Activity and Wellbeing Festival at Marl Pits.

The event brought people of all ages together for a full day of activity, connection and community engagement. The programme included a triathlon, 3v3 football, inclusive sports, Rugby Union, American football and a guided walk, with many people trying something new for the first time.

Local clubs, coaches and community organisations played a central role throughout the day, delivering taster sessions and demonstrations and showcasing the wide range of opportunities available across the borough to stay active and connected.

The festival also highlighted our commitment to supporting healthier lifestyles and increasing participation in sport and physical activity, with participants able to explore activities that suit different ages, abilities and interests.

Cllr Liz McInnes, Lead Member for Communities, Housing, Health and Wellbeing, said: “It was fantastic to see so many residents getting involved and supporting our first ever festival. The level of enthusiasm and engagement shows just how much appetite there is in Rossendale for accessible, inclusive activities that support both physical and mental wellbeing. We are extremely grateful to all the partners and volunteers who helped make the event such a success.”

Rossendale Borough Council would like to thank Rossendale Leisure Trust for hosting the event at Marl Pits and for the support of their staff throughout the day. We also extend our thanks to all local clubs, coaches, partners and volunteers whose time, energy and enthusiasm helped create such a positive community event.
