Established in 1906 Rawtenstall Market, Newchurch Rd BB4 7QX is a characterful Market Hall with a partly covered outdoor marketplace.

Market days are Thursday and Saturday  9am - 4pm all year round, with special events throughout the year – Individual traders have different opening times, so if you are after someone specific, check their social media pages for more information!

Inside the Market you will find all your quality traditional market offerings such as fresh produce, butchers, fishmongers, deli, haberdashery. We are also home to amazing general trade, artisan makers, bakers, creators, and a wonderful array of street food vendors.  The market is managed by Rossendale Borough Council.  

Promising a shopping destination of choice for Rawtenstall & Rossendale and a central hub for our community.

Rawtenstall Market Update Project

Rawtenstall market hall is currently undergoing a huge transformation. 

With £4.2 million from the Levelling up Fund, the old market hall is being transformed into an up to date market space, with a new inside space, and a more welcoming frontage. 

The construction is well underway, and completion is due by Spring 2027

The council is in the process of agreeing terms with a market operator, to take over once the project is complete. The operator will be in charge of the day to day running of the market, as well as maintenance and organising events. Keep an eye on the market social media page for updates!

Rawtenstall Temporary Market 

Whilst the Newchurch Road market site is under construction, all of Rawtenstall Market traders moved across to a temporary site, on Rawtenstall town square, located in front of the bus station. While most of the traders are situated in cabins, there are five traders operating from inside the bus station itself.

Retail opening times remain the same, Thursday and Saturday from 9am until 4pm. 

It is estimated that the established site on Newchurch Road will be complete in Spring 2027, we look forward to welcoming back all our traders and their customers in due course.
