Futures Park – Bacup
Futures Park is the home of the Rossendale Borough Council offices, between Stacksteads and Bacup. It sits on the former site of Lee Mill – a woollen mill built in 1825, that converted to a cotton mill in 1835. In 1999 demolition and clearance of the site began and had been completed by May 2002, with construction underway a year later on a new £5.3m industrial estate, which included the office block known today as the Kingfisher Centre, which was opened by local opera singer Sean Ruane in June 2004.
Recent developments on Futures Park include Plot 1 – Bright Futures Nursery School, which was completed in 2021, and Plot 5 – Orthoplastics, which is a world leader in the development and supply of implantable medical devices for the orthopedic sector, involving musculoskeletal issues, was completed in 2020
