Disability band reduction
You may be able to get a reduction on your Council Tax if:
- you, or an adult or child living with you, is permanently disabled and the property is their sole or main residence
- the property contains at least one of the following:
- a room (which is not a bathroom, kitchen or lavatory) which is mainly used by the disabled person and is required for meeting their needs
- an additional bathroom or kitchen which is required for the disabled person
- enough floor space to allow the use of a wheelchair
If you qualify, we will reduce your council tax charge by the equivalent of one Council Tax band.
Please note that under schedule 3 of the Local Government Finance Act 1992, a penalty of £70.00 may be added to your council tax account if you
- knowingly supply information which is inaccurate
- fail to advise within 21 days that you should no longer be entitled to a discount
