What is a Supplementary Planning Document?
Supplementary planning documents (SPDs) provide additional help and advice to applicants, architects and planning agents on what we expect to see when certain applications are submitted.
For example, the Conversion and Re-Use of Buildings in the Countryside gives advice and guidance on the design and layout of rural buildings as well as setting out what uses are acceptable in the countryside.
Before submitting a planning application it is advisable to consider the information found in these documents.

The Council consulted on the draft Re-use and Re-development of Employment Land SPD which provides further information on the Local Plan Policy EMP3 and on how the Council will continue to protect existing employment sites and premises in the borough. In particular, it provides further details on the information required to be submitted as part of a planning application for the re-use and re-development of employment land into housing. This consultation ended on Friday 10th March 2023. The responses received as well as the draft SPD can be downloaded via the link below.
