Union Street Works
The Council is exploring potential improvements to the public realm on Union Street, Bacup. The aim is to enhance accessibility, safety, and the overall environment for businesses, customers, and visitors.
Potential changes being considered include:
- Installing drop kerbs to improve crossing access for wheelchair users and those with mobility impairments
- Making Union Street one-way downhill
- Widening pavements to improve pedestrian space
- Changing paving materials to enhance appearance and durability
- Widening pavements may require the removal of some on-street parking bays
The Council are seeking feedback from local businesses before any decisions are made.
