Apply for Housing Benefit and Universal Credit

Apply for Housing Benefit

From the 21st November 2018 we are no longer accepting claims for Housing Benefit unless you fall into one of the following categories:

  • You or your partner are state pension credit age. If you are not sure, you can check your state pension age online.
  • You live in temporary or supported accommodation.
  • There are three or more children in your household and you have not claimed Universal Credit in the last six months.

If you do not fall into any of these categories, then you must apply for Universal Credit.

Universal Credit does not include Council Tax Support which can still be claimed from Rossendale Borough Council via this form

Universal Credit Changes

For those already in receipt of Universal Credit your claim will remain active. If you have claimed Universal Credit in the last six months you will need to reclaim Universal Credit.

If you are unsure or have any queries please contact your local Job Centre Plus or the Council's Benefit department for further advice.
