Description
Library Gardens, known locally as Sparrow Park is a multi award winning, beautifully landscaped community green space and library garden, revitalised through a partnership with Civic Pride Rossendale. The site features the Rawtenstall Cenotaph which honors Soldiers who served in the armed forces and civilians who worked on the home front during World War One and Two
History
The Library Gardens (Historically known as Sparrow Park) were established after funding fell through for a grander civic complex. The land was re purposed into public gardens which now features the grade two listed rawtenstall cenotaph, constructed in 1929 to honor local victims of both world wars.
