Description
Victoria Park in Haslingden serves as a vibrant community hub featuring a modern wheeled sports skatepark, sports facilities, and a dedicated junior running track.
History
Victoria Park was created in the mid-19th century and officially opened in 1900. A popular community hub in Rossendale, it is famously home to the Holden Cross base and a MK III Female Tank, which was presented to the borough in 1919 and subsequently broken down for scrap in 1927, though an enduring local legend claims it was buried somewhere in the park's grounds. Historical records show the park also once featured a bandstand near Helmshore Road, which was a prominent social gathering point captured in illustrations and postcards dating back to 1908.
